It would be nice to know what the Royals were using, unfortunately the photos are not clear enough for me to even make a guess at the rifle used.

A muffler with a high power/supersonic rifle round works quite well in reducing the noise of the muzzle blast, well enough that it isn’t objectionable to stand next to. Of course the supersonic projectile will produce the same craaack sound in flight.

Also, my life would be a whole lot less, umm, <i>regular</i> without a steady influx of hummus. Not all ex-smokers are on a crusade to stamp out the evil weed either, it's the actions I find objectionable not the diet.
