ick, I feel so dirty
I called my congress-critter.
I called the office of the Honorable Steny Hoyer, Majority Leader of the House of Representatives. I called him about the Dingle vs. Waxman committee appointment.
His intern gave the standard safe answer when I asked about which way my Representative was leaning. I then expressed my concern about expensive EPA mandates that we just cannot afford due to the economy if Waxman gets that chairmanship to House Energy and Commerce Committee. The intern sounded like she really didn’t give a shit and tried to get me off the phone, even hanging up on me when I asked her why she didn’t ask me for my name and address and verify that I’m actually in his district.
We truly have the very best government money can buy.
I’m sure that the big three in Detroit are pouring influence and cash into making sure Dingle keeps his chairmanship even as they go hat in hand for “free” money to save themselves from their bad business choices during the credit crunch and recession.
Well, they say a fax is ten times more effective than a phone call anyway, and far more likely to be read since an actual letter would get delayed in the mail. I guess I’ll follow up that way.

That sounds just like my representative’s firewall.

Never happened to me before. I was never trying to contact my congress critter, just trying to leave a message.
While I’m sure they just keep a tally, they at least in the past sounded like they are interested in what I had to say.
